As part of regional cooperation in hydrography, oceanography and cartography, the Royal Moroccan Navy organized the 13th Conference of the Eastern Atlantic Hydrographic Commission (EAtHC), at the Simulation and Naval Training Center in Casablanca, from 16 to 18 September, 2014.
Indeed, many themes were discussed during this Conference. They mainly focused on:
• Capacity building of coastal states in the region;
• Awareness of the importance of setting up Hydrographic Services and Hydrographic Committees in order to meet needs;
The 5th Extraordinary International Hydrographic Conference (CHIE) which took place in Monaco from 06 to 10 October 2014, where important topics in terms of hydrographic development were discussed, either technically or in terms of Capacity Building.
Moreover, during this Conference, were respectively presented the national reports of France, Morocco, Nigeria, Portugal, Spain, Congo, Cote D'lvoire, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Senegal, United Kingdom and Angola. Each of these reports introduced the main activities carried out by each State in its area of responsibility or in consultation with another State. The Reports described the Hydrographic Service concerned and specified the work carried out; as well as the problems encountered in the fields of hydrography, cartography and oceanography. Then, the work continued with further presentations from the various companies and international organizations taking part in that Conference.
The Commission closed its work on September 18th and the Kingdom of Morocco took over the chairmanship. The 14th Conference of the Commission (14th EAtHC) was subsequently held in Spain in 2016.
