THE FIRST NATIONAL HYDROGRAPHIC DAY

Under the High Instructions of His Majesty The King Mohammed VI, Supreme Chief and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, May God assist him, the Royal Moroccan Navy organized on June 21th, 2018, with the support of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and in partnership with the Directorate of Ports and Public Maritime Domain (DPDPM), the First National Hydrographic Day, under the theme chosen by the IHO: "Bathymetry, a pillar for the seas, sustainable oceans and waterways ”.

This event was organized in parallel with the World Hydrography Day celebrated annually, every June 21st, in accordance with Resolution A / 60/30 on Oceans and the Law of the Sea which urges all States to cooperate with the IHO for the purpose of promoting the safety of navigation, particularly in international shipping areas, in ports and where there are vulnerable or protected sea areas.

This Day brought together participants including members of the National Coordination Committee in the fields of Hydrography, Oceanography and Cartography (CNCHOC) and the French Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (SHOM). It also constituted a platform for exchange and sharing around the contribution of the works and achievements of national and international services in the fields of hydrography on the one hand, and on the other hand, around the role of IT Tools in terms of collection, consolidation and exchange of hydrographic data for the improvement of knowledge of the marine environment and sustainable development.

Also, an exhibition of national private operators took place in order to introduce new technologies and tools used by hydrographers.
