On Wednesday, 02nd May 2018, a ceremony to transfer duties in terms of nautical information management took place at the Simulation and Naval Training Center (CSEN) of the Royal Moroccan Navy in Casablanca, between the Directorate of Ports and Public Maritime Domain (DPDPM) and the Royal Moroccan Navy represented by the Division of Hydrography, Oceanography and Cartography (DHOC). Thus, the DHOC has become the National Coordinator for the management of nautical information since May 2018.
To this end, the DHOC is now responsible for collecting nautical information in Moroccan maritime areas from national and international organizations having activities at sea; as well as any other user of the sea. After processing the collected information, the DHOC proceeds to the dissemination of any nautical information involving the safety of navigation. This process is ensured, nationally and internationally, through Navigational Warnings (AVURNAV) and Notices to Mariners.
Moreover, the DHOC develops and disseminates Monthly Notices to Mariners(GANs), in digital format, via the national departments concerned. These groups relate mainly to:
• The information (AVURNAV and AVINAV) issued during the period of the last GAN, until the edition of the new GAN and those which still remain in force;
• Corrections to be made on related nautical documents (nautical charts and document).
