This activity, chaired by the Captain of the Major Vessel, Head of the Hydrography, Oceanography and Cartography Division of the Royal Navy (DHOC), enabled the participants not only to consolidate their knowledge in the field of hydrography, but also to recall the standards and best practices for carrying out a hydrographic survey, through presentations given by expert officers of the Royal Navy, supplemented by a case study of surveys carried out by the DHOC.
The interaction of the various participants with regard to the topics dealt with, relating to the process of carrying out a hydrographic survey from planning to validation, testifies to the importance of cooperation between the member departments and affirms the interest of the pooling of actions for greater effectiveness and efficiency in carrying out surveys. In addition, the organization of a workshop dealing with real cases of surveys carried out by the Royal Navy (Mehdia estuary, port of Laayoune and off the new port of Safi) crowns the effort deployed by the DHOC, this opportunity, for the sharing of know-how, expertise and RETEX in the field of hydrography.
In a statement to the Revue des FAR, Mohamed El Aichati, from the Infrastructure Department of the National Ports Agency (ANP), praised the role of the Royal Navy in updating and producing nautical charts, while by highlighting the initiatives of the DHOC for the improvement of the skills of the agents of the ANP in the realization of hydrographic surveys.
This training day highlighted the dynamism and professionalism shown by the CNCHOC to promote hydrography at the level of the Kingdom. This translated concretely into a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the conclusive deliverables.
The organization of this training day on "the guide for carrying out a hydrographic survey" will allow members of the CNCHOC and professionals operating in the field of bathymetry to better understand the profession of hydrography. This activity initiated by the Royal Navy, on High Royal Instructions, is able to standardize the best practices to adopt and serve as a reference for carrying out a survey. Similarly, the popularization of the implementation process imperatively involves pooling the actions of CNCHOC stakeholders from the acquisition phase to validation.
